Caring for
keyboard
Even
something as simple as a keyboard requires a little preventive maintenance from
time to time. Check out the following guidelines:
Ø Link monitor, keep keyboard away from
direct sunlight, dust and smoke. You can even put a dust cover on the keyboard
when not in use, to protect the keyboard from dirt and dust.
Ø Ensure that foot and liquids are kept
away from the keyboard’s spill area, which is a common cause of keyboard
failures.
Ø Use a handheld vacuum cleaner to
periodically cleanse the dirt from a keyboard. You can also use compressed air
to blow the dirt away from the keyboard.
Ø Use to soft cotton cloth or cotton
swab moistened with water or a mild cleaner to clean between the keys. You can
also use this method to clean the key’s surface. However, never use spray cleaners
to clean the keyboard.
Ø Remove the keycaps to clean the
underlying keyboard switches.
Caring for mouse
Like keyboards, mouse are
also operated too frequently and therefore subjected to great amount of dirt
and dust. The dirt more often gets accumulated on the ball of the mouse thereby
causing the mouse ball not to roll properly. This causes the mouse to stop from
functioning.
To increase the longevity
of a mouse, consider the following guidelines:
Ø Periodically cleanse the mouse ball
by washing it with a plain water or mild detergent, and dry it using a soft
cotton cloth. You can remove the mouse ball by opening up bottom of your mouse.
Ø While the mouse ball is removed, cleanse
inside the mouse by using compressed air or soft cotton cloth to remove the dirt
and dust from the inside. You may also use tweezers to remove lint or hair that
got stuck inside the mouse.
Ø Always use a mouse pad. This reduces
the amount of dirt being accumulated on the mouse ball significantly. However
you should cleanse the mouse pad periodically y using a mild spray cleaner.
