Configuring for static addressing manually on windows

To configure TCP/IP for static configuration manually, complete the following steps:
1.     Open network connection, right- click the appropriate network connection, and then select properties.
2.     In the general tab (for a local area connection) or the networking tab (all other connections), select the internet protocol (TCP/IP) component, and then click properties.
3.     In the internet protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box , select use the following IP address, and then do one of the following :
Ø For a local area connection, assign the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway.
Ø For all other connection, assign the IP address.

4.     (Optional) in the preferred DNS server text box and the alternate DNS server text box, type the primary and secondary DNS server addresses.
5.     ( optional ) To configure a WINS server, click advance, click the WINS tab, and click add to add the address of an available WINS server.
